South Portland Launches Free Home Energy Assistance Program

South Portland has introduced a new municipal program designed to help residents improve their home energy systems, lower utility bills, and support environmental sustainability.
 

Program Details and Benefits

  • Target Audience: The initiative will assist 50 local households, including both homeowners and renters.
  • Services Offered: Selected participants will receive a free energy assessment along with municipal support for minor home weatherization and energy repairs.
  • Focus Areas: The city aims to support fixed-income, low-income, and moderate-income residents who are struggling with rising energy costs.
 

How to Apply


Applications are currently being accepted on a rolling basis. According to Sustainability Director Julie Rosenbach, the program takes a holistic approach to help residents create long-term energy plans and reduce overall living costs.
